Giving Thanks

In church the talks were about gratitude, which is what I needed to hear, honestly. One of the girls talked about how she didn’t have a car when she came to college and she needed to ask for rides everywhere, etc. (I totally know how that is!) Her parents found a car for her for $200 and it was a junker (windshield wipers never stopped going, rain or shine, doors sometimes wouldn’t open, can’t lock it or you couldn’t unlock it, etc). She was really grateful for it, though, because she didn’t have anything before. Well, that’s how I got my car (only $100, never had one, etc). I was so grateful for it and then this year I put about $1,700 into it to keep it up. It’s been so frustrating because I just want to buy a new car! However, I realized today that I should really be grateful that I DO have such a good car, as old as it is, but it runs really well. I just got new tires and it’s all ready to go home for Christmas, weather pending. I’m so grateful that I have a car that I can go home for Christmas now! I don’t have to depend on whether or not someone else is going, as I am having a hard time finding someone to go with as it is. I’m grateful that I have a job that I can afford all these car fees. I am grateful for the friends I have that love me no matter what. I’m grateful that I have been blessed with such a happy personality that it takes a lot to get me down. I’m grateful that I have such a big heart and love for others and the ability to help others feel the Lord’s love through my love. I’m grateful that I am not high maintenance (I don’t need to constantly go on vacations to find fulfillment in life, I get that just by relaxing, watching a movie, reading a book, being with people, babysitting, etc).
I love that I can babysit for Julie, my coworker, as I know it helps her and Matt be able to go to the temple, but it also fulfills my baby need. Maddie is soo adorable!! She’s crawling now! So cute!! I am just so blessed.

I know how you feel about the car! I've put $1,100 into mine over the past four months (after buying it for $2,500).

Glad you are taking things in stride though!

Merry Christmas!
